These  pinch vessel experimentations are a result of investigating into historical pottery and the connection to idols and ritual (for using specific objects to hold water or other mixtures).

I really enjoyed making these bearded faces and feel very connected too them which is obviously something I aimed to do in this project.

As I researched and found other areas of interest I tried to include these into iterations such as the stoney texture on the larger bowl. I made the texture by pressing one of the found pieces of ceramic into the ckay when wet.

However, for this project I decided from my research to go in a different direction that is more to do with space and more of an instalment into the landscape and vessel forms didn't hold the weight of the issue I was trying to portray- the connection with the land and this country, especially as this type of pottery is not specifically from the UK.

I would like to take this further in the future, and to make sure this was not wasted they were also used as glaze tests.
